This week we had our last meeting with the artists to close the last details about the island art and the poster for MOJO.
I’m finishing the island design and introducing elements that enrich the player experience. Currently, I’m designing the temple and puzzle that the player must solve in order to get a reward.
I also added a mini-map that guides the player through the island and elements that enrich the game storyline.
Currently, I’m working on the MOJO materials and activities, namely the quick start sheet describing the principles of the game and how to play. Additionally, I’m working on the necessary methods for data collection of playtests to future analysis, such as logs and google forms.
This week I was responsible for integrating the enemies in the game and fine-tuning their behavior in order to define the right amount of difficulty. Additionally, I had to integrate the enemies with the visual appearance of the island and apply animations to introduce consistency in the visual experience.
This week I was responsible for finishing the game mechanics such as the interactions with the inventory and the crafting system. The player can now collect and store items in his inventory, cut woods to gather logs and use the crafting system to create a campfire or a shelter.
